Estratègia, risc, 
		previsió, rapidesa, concentració… seran més presents que mai a Barcelona 
		amb motiu de la celebració del Magistral d’Escacs Ciutat de Barcelona 
		- Casino de Barcelona 2009, que comptarà amb la presència d’un gran 
		nombre de mestres d’escacs vinguts d’arreu del món.  
Barcelona us dóna la 
		benvinguda. La nostra és una ciutat amb una llarga tradició en 
		l’organització d’esdeveniments d’alta competició i comprovar que 
		tornejos com aquest es van consolidant i arriben ja a la seva 14ª edició 
		és una notícia excel·lent.  
Així doncs, com a 
		alcalde de Barcelona, em plau animar-vos a participar o a presenciar el 
		torneig que, un any més, és possible gràcies a l’esforç organitzatiu, 
		professional i entusiasta, de la Federació Catalana d’Escacs. Els 
		escaquistes no teniu excusa per no poder-ne gaudir. La Federació us 
		ofereix, a més, la possibilitat de seguir les partides per internet a 
		través del seu portal.  
Us hi esperem a tots i 
		a totes perquè en sigueu testimonis. Molta sort a tots els participants!

		WELCOME


		Strategy, risk, forecast, speed, concentration...  will be more present 
		than ever in Barcelona on the occasion of the celebration of the 
		Magistral d’Escacs Ciutat de Barcelona - Casino de Barcelona 2009, 
		which will count on the presence of a great number of chess masters 
		coming from all over the world.

		

		Barcelona welcomes you. This is a city with a long tradition as for the 
		organization of high level events and the fact that tournaments like 
		this keep on being consolidated and  actually reach their 14th edition, 
		is an excellent news.

		

		Thus, as a Mayor of Barcelona, I am pleased to encourage you to 
		participate or to witness the tournament that, once again is being 
		possible thanks to the professional and enthusiastic effort of the 
		Catalan Chess Federation. There is no excuse not to enjoy it. Moreover, 
		the Federation offers you the possibility to follow the games via 
		internet through the official website.

		

		We expect all of you to be witnesses of all this.  Best of luck to all 
		participants!

És per a 
		mi una gran satisfacció adreçar-me als clubs i escaquistes amb motiu de 
		la celebració del Magistral d'Escacs Ciutat de Barcelona - Casino de 
		Barcelona. corresponent a l’any 2009.  

		Catalunya i molt especialment Barcelona necessitava un torneig 
		internacional tancat de prestigi. Amb la 14a edició d’aquet Torneig es 
		consolida el millor dels Tancats que es fan actualment a Catalunya i un 
		dels millors de l’Estat Espanyol. La nòmina de participants, tot i que 
		encara no està tancada, ens fa presagiar un magnífic espectacle 
		esportiu. 
Vull 
		aprofitar l’ocasió per agrair i felicitar a Jordi Parayre que com a 
		director del Torneig està realitzant any rere any una extraordinària 
		tasca al capdavant d’aquesta prova oficial i internacional de la 
		Federació Catalana d’Escacs. 
També 
		vull encoratjar els escaquistes perquè assisteixin a aquest Torneig 
		Tancat i a participar en les activitats paral·leles que aproparan als 
		grans mestres amb els jugadors amateurs, com seran les simultànies i les 
		classes teòriques impartides per tres dels mestres participants al 
		torneig. En aquesta edició hem volgut fer un esforç superior en aquest 
		apartat. 
Només em 
		resta agrair els patrocinadors d’aquest important esdeveniment esportiu 
		i social.  En primer lloc a l’Ajuntament de Barcelona i també, i molt 
		especialment, al Casino de Barcelona que no només patrocina 
		econòmicament el Torneig, sinó que cedeix cada any les seves 
		instal·lacions.

			WELCOME
 

			I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to address the clubs 
			and chessplayers on the occasion of the celebration of the 
			Magistral d’Escacs Ciutat de Barcelona - Casino de Barcelona 2009.

			

			Catalonia and especially Barcelona needed a prestigious closed 
			international tournament. With the 14th edition of this Tournament 
			actually the best closed event in Catalonia and one of the best in 
			Spain is being consolidated. The list of participants makes us 
			presage a magnificent sport show.

			

			I want to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate Mr. Jordi 
			Parayre that as a Director of the Tournament year by year is 
			carrying out an extraordinary task of leading this official and 
			international event of the Catalan Chess Federation.

			

			I also want to encourage the chessplayers to attend this Closed 
			Tournament and to participate in the parallel activities which will 
			approach the great chess masters to amateurs, e.g. Simultaneous 
			Exibitions and the Theoretical Classes conducted by three of the 
			participants of the Tournament. In this Edition we have tried to 
			make a bigger effort at this section.

			

			I also would like to thank all the Sponsors of this very important 
			sport and social event. In the first place, I would like to thank 
			the Town Council of Barcelona and also, and very especially, the 
			Gran  Casino of Barcelona that not only does sponsor the Tournament 
			economically, but also offers every year their installations.
